SCAP Teaching

Overview
As part of the University of Adelaide MBBS Yr 6 SCAP program, an AOGP senior GP Registrar delivers educational sessions to 6th year medical students undertaking their General Practice clinical rotations. The presentations relate to some common presentations in the primary care setting. It emphasises the unique nature of general practice medicine and the range of management options that can be considered depending on the patient's context

Aim
To expose undergraduate medical students to the unique nature of General Practice through planned teaching and learning sessions.

Objectives

  • Introduce community based chronic care
  • Orientation to General Practice 
  • Introduction to health systems – acute and chronic care
  • Develop vertically integrated teaching models
  • To model and develop general practice teaching
  • To develop an understanding of the range of management options in general practice
  • To develop an interest in general practice as specialty

GPSN/First Wave Scholarship

AOGP provides support to the two South Australian University General Practice Student Network (GPSN). The GPSN is an organisation run by medical students, for medical students which seeks to foster a greater awareness of General Practice as a lifestyle and a profession.
