Description of region:
Paralowie, stream of water, is 20 - 30 minutes North of the Adelaide CBD. Previous farming and market garden land lended itself to significant development and rapid growth from the 1980's, with the resultant suburb and its surrounds now predominantly residential in nature. The population is composed primarily of young couples with children, and consequently there are many schools, child care centres and community recreational facililties in the area.

Regional Highlights

  • Registrar testimonial:
" I would highly recommend working in this friendly, supportive and well-organised team. The supervision from all staff is very good and the patient base is quite diverse. I have really enjoyed my time at Health Matters."
    • St Kilda Mangroves:
About 20 kilometres north of Adelaide, the St Kilda Mangroves Aquatic Reserve are a treat for wilderness buffs. A short distance from the mangroves is the rural St Kilda township and its adventure children's playground. It opens daily from 10am.
    • Classic Jet Fighter Museum:
This rather different museum is no rusty collection of ancient war planes, but a busy restoration workshop staffed by volunteers.
    • Watershed Wetlands Trails and Tours:
With over 160 species recorded, bird lovers will particularly enjoy the specially constructed bird hide and the 2km of well maintained trails meandering through the Watershed Wetlands. Interpretive signage provides details of the rich and diverse wildlife. The self guided tour takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.
