Clare Medical Centre - Rural

Clare Medical Centre provides a comprehensive range of medical services to the community of approximately 10,000. The GPs are contracted to provide medical services for the hospital including emergency on-call, inpatients, anaesthetics, obstetrics and surgery. The practice nurses provide a broad range of nursing services and assists the GPs to draft care plans and help with the management of chronic diseases. The practice is fully computerized and uses Zedmed for clinical records, appointments, and billings.

Clare Medical Centre also employs 5 part-time practice nurses, and 2 mental health nurses.

Radiography and Sonography services are also provided during office hours. The practice has a pathology collection centre on site.

The community health services are reasonably well resourced and there are also private physiotherapy services available.

Clare is the major township in the Clare Valley, located 136 km from Adelaide. The Clare community is a very friendly and safe environment.

The Valley offers a great rural lifestyle including the renowned wineries of the region. The town has contemporary facilities such as the recreation and aquatic centre, there are 3 highly regarded primary schools and high school.

  • Polish Hill River Valley:
    The drive between Mintaro and Sevenhill is especially scenic. It is home to the Polish Hill River Valley, a notable wine sub-region. It takes its name from the Polish settlement that occurred in the 1850s along the upper reaches of the Hill River. The local history is recorded in the restored church, which now acts as a museum.
