AOGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Team set out to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in order to facilitate AOGP to continue to build positive relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and communities. Actions and processes that are already established at AOGP will be built upon by the AOGP RAP.
Purpose of a Reconciliation Action Plan
The purpose of developing a RAP for AOGP Training Program is to establish a framework for a Regional Training Provider to turn good intentions into measurable actions that support Aboriginal people to achieve equality in all aspects of life- a goal which benefits all Australians.
Planning the Reconciliation Action Plan
The first AOGP RAP will be implemented from February 2012 for a 12 month time-frame. The RAP will include both long and short-term actions aswell as actions that will be on-going. Many actions will aim to build on successes to date and creating new opportunities in Aboriginal health and training at AOGP. The RAP was endorsed by the AOGP Board in December 2011. A copy of the document will be available here soon.
