Practise:  Audibility

Try to audio- or videorecord your own consults, and then listen to them.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Could I hear myself on the recording?
  2. Did the patient look like he/she was straining to hear what I said?
  3. Did the loudness of my voice impact on rapport?
  4. Did the patient ask me to repeat what I said?
  5. Did the patient seem to not understand?
