AOGP, as part of its AGPT program, provides an extensive array of training opportunities across remote, rural, outer-metro and urban General Practice in South Australia. It predominantly covers the north, west and east regions of country and metropolitan SA. AOGP is of the strong view that the key to effective regional training is close collaboration with key stakeholders within our region and a current knowledge of the region’s needs
AOGP is one of 17 Regional Training Providers (RTPs) in Australia that delivers the AGPT program for doctors who have been selected to specialise in General Practice and complete their training program within a specified region.
AOGP adheres to the curricula and training standards set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM). Further it adheres to the contractual guidelines set by General Practice Education and Training Limited (GPET). A key benefit of regionalisation is that whilst continuing to meet college requirements it allows for diversity in the provision of vocational training, and for each training program to meet the differing needs of communities, individuals and General Practitioners across Australia.
