Prevocational Placements (PGPPP)

What is it?

The Prevocational GP Placements Program (PGPPP) is an Australian government initiative, providing junior doctors the opportunity to experience working in General Practice, in outer metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas. The program offers high quality training in a wide range of clinical situations. The key aim is to provide junior doctors with an experience that may encourage them to choose General Practice as a career. 

Adelaide to Outback has been involved with PGPPP since January 2005. We offer junior doctors the opportunity to work in a ten- to thirteen-week General Practice placement, under supervision of GPs at the Practice.

PGPPP at AOGP

We currently offer 30 Intern and 20 RMO GP placements per year. Interns from four of Adelaide's tertiary hospitals and RMOs from 5 tertiary hospitals may undertake a rotation in one of our 10 accredited teaching practices.

• Health at Newton (Interns - Modbury Public Hospital)

Metropolitan TMO (PGY2+) rotations

• Oakden Medical Centre (RMOs - Lyell McEwin Health Service)
• MEDICAL HQ ( Beulah Park ) (RMOs - Queen Elizabeth Hospital)
• Drug and Alcohol Services SA (RMOs - Flinders Medical Centre)
• Second Storey Adolescent Health (RMOs - Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital)
• Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Service (RMOs - Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital)
